Gym Equipment for Hospitals, Rehabilitation & Aged Care

Rehabilitation gyms, physiotherapy clinics, hospital exercise rooms and aged care facilities have different needs from a typical commercial gym. Users may be recovering from injury or surgery, managing a chronic condition, or simply need a safe and comfortable way to stay active. Nordic Fitness supplies cardio and strength equipment, accessories and servicing to health and care facilities from our Perth base, Australia-wide. We're the exclusive Australian distributor of Circle Fitness and Jerai Fitness.

What health and care facilities should look for

Easy, safe access. Low step-up heights, walk-through frames, handrails and supportive seating make it easier for users with limited mobility to get on and off equipment. Recumbent bikes, with a backrest and a step-through design, are often a better fit than upright bikes for older or deconditioned users.

Fine control of intensity. Rehabilitation progresses in small steps. Treadmills that start at low speeds and change in small increments, and strength machines with light starting weights and small weight jumps, let clinicians tailor sessions.

Supervision and space. Clinicians often need to stand beside a user. Allow clear space around each machine for a therapist and, where needed, a wheelchair or walking frame.

Hygiene. Equipment should be easy to wipe down between users. Keep antibacterial gym wipes, specifically formulated for gyms, and dispensers close to each zone.

Reliability. When a facility has only one treadmill, a breakdown can disrupt a whole program. A planned maintenance schedule matters here.

Recommended equipment

Rehabilitation treadmill

The Circle M6 Care rehabilitation treadmill is designed for rehabilitation settings and comes with safety support arms. That makes it a natural choice for physiotherapy, cardiac and pulmonary rehab, and aged care gyms. See the product page for full specifications, or ask us for a demonstration.

Bikes and cross trainers

Strength

Accessories for clinics

Stretching and mobility tools, exercise mats, aerobic steps and medical and testing equipment round out a rehab space.

Services for health and care facilities

  • Delivery and installation: equipment positioned and set up in your treatment area, including assembly of strength machines.
  • Maintenance contracts: scheduled inspections and servicing, with a detailed report for the work performed.
  • Repairs: we repair most makes and models and keep a large range of spare parts.
  • Procurement support: itemised quotes and documentation for public health and government purchasing.
  • Finance: business finance options for private clinics and practices.

Aged care and retirement living

In aged care and retirement villages, the gym is often used for supervised strength and balance classes as well as independent exercise. Prioritise stable, low-impact equipment: recumbent bikes, a treadmill with support arms, light selectorised machines with easy-to-reach adjustments, and plenty of seating and handholds. Good lighting and non-slip flooring matter as much as the equipment itself.

Planning checklist

  1. Who are your users (post-operative, cardiac, neurological, older adults, general physio)?
  2. Do any users need to transfer from a wheelchair or walking frame?
  3. How many users per session, and how many staff supervise?
  4. What space is available, including room beside each machine for a clinician?
  5. What power is available near treadmills?
  6. What cleaning protocol will you follow between users?

Lead times and deposits

Some commercial equipment is held in stock in Perth. If a Jerai, Body-Solid Pro Dual or Steelflex item is out of stock, you can still order it: allow 45–90 days to site. A 50% deposit is required upfront on Jerai orders. We'll confirm current stock and timing with your quote, so you can plan your opening or refurbishment date.
