Gym Equipment for Defence & Military Facilities

Physical training is central to Defence and emergency services work. Gyms on bases, training establishments and operational facilities have to support demanding strength and conditioning programs for large numbers of personnel. Nordic Fitness supplies heavy-duty commercial gym equipment, flooring and accessories from our Perth base, Australia-wide. We also install and service it. We're the exclusive Australian distributor of Jerai Fitness and Circle Fitness.

What Defence facilities need

Equipment for strength and conditioning. Training programs typically focus on strength, power, work capacity and injury resilience. That means plenty of racks, platforms, barbells and plates, along with conditioning equipment such as rowers, ski ergs, air bikes and sleds.

High throughput. Group physical training sessions put many people through a gym at once. Racks, rigs and stations need to be arranged so groups can rotate efficiently and safely.

Toughness. Equipment will be loaded heavily, dropped, dragged and used in all conditions. Commercial-grade frames, solid welds, durable upholstery and good flooring are essential.

Reliability and servicing. Bases can be remote. Planned maintenance and access to spare parts reduce downtime.

Procurement compliance. Purchasing generally follows government procurement rules, with quotes, tenders or standing offers, and specific documentation.

Flooring and storage

Heavy-duty rubber gym tiles and platforms protect the slab and reduce noise. Plate, barbell, dumbbell and ball storage keep a busy floor safe and organised.

Recovery and rehabilitation

Stretching and mobility tools, resistance bands and recumbent bikes support injury prevention and return-to-training programs.

Laying out a group training gym

Group physical training works best when the floor is laid out around how sessions actually run:

  • Rack lines or a rig along one wall, each bay with its own platform, bar, plates and storage, so a group can be split evenly across stations.
  • A conditioning lane with rowers, ski ergs and air bikes side by side, so an instructor can run timed intervals for a whole group.
  • A sled and turf strip where there's enough length for pushes and pulls.
  • An accessory area with dumbbells, kettlebells, benches and cable or selectorised machines.
  • A recovery and rehab corner with mats, bands and mobility tools.

Leave clear walkways between zones, and keep heavy storage close to where it's used so equipment is put away rather than left on the floor.

How we support Defence projects

Equipment planning. Share your training programs, numbers and space, and we'll propose an equipment list and layout. See gym design and fit-outs.

Procurement. We provide itemised quotes and can respond to RFQs and tenders. See government tenders and supply.

Delivery and installation. We coordinate delivery and installation and work within base access and security requirements.

Maintenance and repairs. Scheduled preventive maintenance with detailed reports, plus repairs for most makes and models, including at remote locations.

Planning checklist

  1. How many personnel will use the gym, and how large are group sessions?
  2. Which training programs and fitness tests must the gym support?
  3. What's the floor area, ceiling height (for rigs and overhead lifts) and floor construction?
  4. What are the access, security and contractor requirements for the site?
  5. Which procurement method applies?
  6. What maintenance frequency suits the level of use?

Lead times and deposits

Some commercial equipment is held in stock in Perth. If a Jerai, Body-Solid Pro Dual or Steelflex item is out of stock, you can still order it: allow 45–90 days to site. A 50% deposit is required upfront on Jerai orders. We'll confirm current stock and timing with your quote, so you can plan your opening or refurbishment date.
